Paul mcBride - Owner and Lead carpenter

Paul is a Northern Virginia native. He was with the Fairfax county police department from 2010-2018 before medically retiring. He later joined the DOJ before realizing he wanted to turn his passion into career. So in 2020 he started Liberty Carpentry.

Paul learned Carpentry throughout his life. Growing up in a family that was full of skilled carpenters he had a knack for it. Starting at age 15 he would spend his summers working on homes with different family members, learning along the way.

Throughout his time, as a police officer, Paul honed his skills and did carpentry jobs here and there.

Paul prides himself on being at every jobs and not leaving it up to crews or subcontractors to get things done. He ensures everyone has a great customer service experience.

Lee - Carpenter

Lee's journey began in Reston, Virginia, where he embarked on a noble path of service by joining the army right after high school. After dedicating himself to his country, Lee transitioned to academia, enrolling at George Mason University while simultaneously working for a local government-contracted company. However, the call of the office environment didn't quite align with his aspirations.

Discovering his true passion lay in craftsmanship, Lee embarked on a new adventure with Liberty Carpentry as a carpenter's assistant. Over the past two years, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication and a thirst for knowledge, earning his place as a seasoned carpenter.

Impressively, within a year of joining Liberty Carpentry, he was promoted to the esteemed position of carpenter, taking on increasingly significant responsibilities within the team.

Paul GRANT - CArPENTER

Known as "Grant" around the workshop, Paul Grant's roots trace back to Virginia, as he was born at Fort Belvoir Army Hospital. Raised in a family with strong military ties, Grant had the privilege of a global upbringing, accompanying his father, Paul Grant Sr., a distinguished West Point graduate from the Class of '69, on journeys to places like Saudi Arabia, Germany, and across the United States.

Following high school, Grant ventured to Kansas, where he honed his carpentry craft, ascending to the role of foreman with a remodeling company before proudly becoming a part of the Kansas City Carpenters Union.

Recently, Grant and his wife, Jennifer, made the heartfelt decision to return to Virginia to be closer to family. Their family includes an 18-year-old son, Jason, who has now followed in the family's legacy of service by joining the United States Navy.

Mike- Woodworker

With an impressive 20-year career in the Coast Guard, Mike brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our team. Retiring in 2020, he transitioned seamlessly into a life filled with exploration and leisure. A seasoned traveler, Mike has ventured to over 20 different countries, broadening his perspectives and enriching his understanding of diverse cultures. Beyond his passion for service, he finds joy in the precision of golf and the creativity of woodworking. Now a valuable member of our team, Mike's commitment to excellence and his well-rounded interests make him an invaluable asset, blending discipline, curiosity, and craftsmanship in everything he does.

Charlie - Carpenter assistant

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, also known as NoVa, Charlie has cultivated his culinary career in kitchens ranging from pierogi shops to 5-star resorts. As a co-owner of a food concessions company, he specializes in operating at music festivals, delivering exceptional food experiences to diverse audiences.

Beyond his culinary expertise, Charlie proudly holds the title of Eagle Scout, showcasing his dedication to leadership and community service. Bringing a familial touch to our team, Charlie joined forces with his brother to contribute their talents. In addition to his role in the culinary realm, Charlie now serves as a carpenter's assistant, enhancing our business with his diverse skill set and dedication.

Will - CArPENTER Assistant

Originally from Bedford, England, Will made his way to Virginia during his formative years, growing up in Falls Church and attending McLean High School. Achieving the prestigious title of Eagle Scout, Will showcased a dedication to leadership and community service.

In high school, Will excelled in a variety of sports, including football, lacrosse, and wrestling. This athletic journey continued in college at Stevenson University, where he demonstrated his skills on the football field.

After exploring a career as a certified personal trainer for a year, Will sought a path with greater consistency and long-term clarity. Today, he brings a wealth of experiences, resilience, and a commitment to success, ready to contribute meaningfully to our collective journey.

Rick - wood shop assistant

Hailing from the heartland of Kansas, Rick's love for woodworking was kindled during his formative years, as he observed and collaborated with his father, a highly skilled carpenter. This early exposure ignited a lifelong passion for working with wood, a passion that ultimately became Rick's calling. His professional journey led him through various regions, from Colorado to Florida, before finding a home in Virginia.

Previously entrenched in the telecommunications industry, Rick has transitioned to the realm of carpentry, where he now channels his expertise as a woodworker into projects that benefit the community. His contributions range from crafting toys for underprivileged children at the local Community Center's woodshop to an array of other meaningful initiatives.

Rick's enthusiasm and willingness to learn are undeniable, and he takes immense pride in his role as a valued member of the Liberty Carpentry team.
